I need a hand….or two.
Got some news regarding hands.
For those of you who were sad to see they “fixed’ Slo-Mo’s hands and took his claws away like I was, I have wonderful news! if you order his hands from the Mattel replacement parts website they will send you the claws! It worked for me! ( thank you to my beautiful pixiesera for the picture and for ordering them for me! )
I don’t know if they are only doing this until they get rid of the surplus of mo claws they made or what. but I bought mine just in case they realize the mistake and fix it. and if anyone found this tip useful, while you’re getting yourself a pair if you could grab me a set too I’d appreciate it <3 (I’d get em myself but I lack a credit card)
The replacement parts website is also great if you just need forearms and hands, especially those of you who got Heath Burns dolls with oven mitt stained knuckles. a set of lower arms only costs $4! a steal. Or if maybe you have an older Deuce or Clawd and want him to have articulated wrists!
In more hand news….I’m having a problem… the clear parts of my Basic Spectra’s hands and forearms are slowly turning yellow ( and sticky? ). but my DDG Spectra whose still in the box has normal hands. I’ve been trying to read up on what causes this and all answers point to smoking but I don’t smoke, no one in my house smokes!?!?!?!?
I don’t really care why it’s happening I just want to reverse it if that’s possible… I’ve read that Denture cleaner will do the trick but will it hurt the vinyl? can this be reversed? Or should I just throw in the towel and get new hands?
any help would be appreciated!
Benzoyl peroxide can help, but the process can take over a month. Plus most benzoyl peroxide acne creams are at least 4$ so new parts might be cheaper. Clearasil is the best acne cream for this.
Yellowing is unavoidable for dolls. All dolls yellow, but you can slow it down! Even Barbies yellow, but it does take years for barbies and most bjds! Lightly colored dolls yellow quicker, and white dolls yellow more noticeably. The main causes for yellowing are sunlight exposure, smoking, resin oxidizing, and time passing. The last two tend to go together, most bjds that yellow all over have yellowed because their resin continues to oxidize over the years. Your Spectra might be yellowing selectively(just on her arms and not all over) due to sunlight exposure.
But I don’t think that is the case, since you said they are sticky. Monster high dolls have some sort of mold release agent on their bodies. It’s well known that to change the body color of a mh doll, you must wipe the boy down with something to dissolve that agent beforehand. If you don’t, the body will be unable to absorb the color. MH dolls also have removable lower arms and hands, and these parts are made out of a different plastic. I think something has happened to the mold release agent on your Spectra’s lower arms! Maybe this happened while the doll was in your care, or maybe it was a factory mistake. I’m not sure! But if the dolls mold agent is starting to dissolve it might get gummy, causing stickiness. This lack of agent might also make the limbs more susceptible to yellowing. Yellowing can happen very quickly, some dolls can visibly yellow within 5 years. Perhaps your Spectra is now super sensitive to yellowing? With no protector to the plastic, sunlight might cause yellowing quicker. OR, it’s not your spectra that’s yellowing, but the defective mold release agent! Now that it’s compromised, it might be attracting dirt and yellow.
I suggest you give the arms a vigorous scrub. If you can live with the current yellowing, I suggest you seal the arms with Mr. Super Clear UV CUT. That should lengthen the time your doll has before starting to yellow. I’m not certain that the mold release agent is the problem, but as a last resort you can try removing the mold release agent? I personally use goof off instead of acetone as it reduces the chances of dissolving the doll’s plastic. If you wanted to try and remove the agent that way, I suggest you test it on on part of the body, then rinse in water, then seal with MR>Super clear UV cut. Regular Mr. super clear won’t work to prevent yellowing, but uv cut will. Either way, it’s probably cheaper to get new limbs.
if the creator of that bear and cop show is ~so sorry~ about using slurs in their online presence why is their shop name still the incredibly homophobic “livethefaggotry”
you think if someone wanted to distance themselves from the past theyd actually, you know, follow through on that instead of painting a surface gloss on it.
while we’re at it, why are people framing the unpaid hard work of up and coming animators as a valiant act of charity+good ~exposure~. pay your fucking animators
Guys I super super super never usually do this but I really gotta speak out about this project.
A bunch of my friends used to work for this project and I emphasize USED TO because the people working on the project bullied one out of working, made another quit due to their hypocritical and disgusting work ethic and is withholding/refusing payment for the work they’ve done (which is a lot). They’ve even sent a termination letter that was basically a personal attack on my friend and threatened that if they said anything slanderous, they wouldn’t get paid.
Another was promised a certain sum of money to animate and clean up the previews and is WONDERFULLY DONE only to be thrown out and substituted with the work officially shown in the previews after previously demanding work to be done on a fast turnaround, despite her having a full time job. Even after completing all of her work within the time she promised, she was only offered less than a fifth of what was previously agreed on.
The writer that attended VanCaf lied to get sales claiming that certain works were done by the creator when it was done by someone else in the group.
Guys, do not support the project for the sake of my friends who were cast aside and bullied from this project as well as the absolutely shoddy quality of what’s presented here.
REMEMBER HOW I WAS SAYING THIS PERSON WAS A PIECE OF SHIT. GUESS WHAT THEYRE STILL A PIECE OF SHIT
